IThe Holi-Daze: A Royal Gift or Stead-fast Disaster?
The holiday season is back in! Gravitating to appreciation and gratitude and tons of giving in generous proportions—in holding on for dear life to the miraculous journey while at the same time preventing an overwhelming hollowed sense of nothingness from consuming our soul. Balanced breathing techniques, yoga tips and other assorted self-help tricks can definitely appropriate one’s demeanor and holiday joy for the period ahead, but what about anxiety and feeling overwhelmed does the holiday experience scream out: I’m late again!
While wondering what the meaning of existence really is, and: “why me?” inquisitions begin to start occupying mental space, consider asking yourself: why not!? Why really the futaki NOT!? Remember the original conversation of truth and joy and peace and love and clarity along with togetherness and enough-ness and feelings of effortlessness and how it all works out.
Times like the holidays can be frantic and alarming for some, and certainly there is that added element of LIFE and its friendly M.O. going by the name of, “SURPRISE!” The holiday season often develops into a conversation of convenience and whether or not the temperature gauge is suitable for, “going with the flow,” and invites us to jump out of bed in the morning and occupy some external space . This holiday season, consider asking yourself the bigger questions like: What is existence all about ? What is success to me? How do I define perfection? Love? Freedom? Aye! —good news— Dr. Indiana Jones was fearless and correct by pressing forward regardless of any unforeseeable outcome. Whether it be the Turkey on Thanksgiving or the boxes of jubilee under a Christmas tree; maybe lighting the Menorah is just the right processional greeting, but either way, whatever your accord please don’t shut yourself off from the outside world. The world will not change instantly into the way you would like it to be laid out for you specifically, but go and bring that change by BEING it! It’s going to be okay! Everyone stops for a bit to dwell and ruminate to collect themselves again, but consider what the world will be like without your presence in it. What is the offering? The sacrifice you could make in order to let others know you are there for them this holiday season? Sometimes it’s nice to interpret life in a more digestible format. Look at life as being interesting and playful; as cheerful and supportive. People want to “help,” and while we agree that this offer to “rescue” someone may become problematic and perhaps even deleterious for that person, the point is that people are genuinely out there to offer their support and YOU have made it this far with a voice that carries and a thinking mind, so personalize it! Let others know what type of support you are seeking.
This season is filled with excitement! unimaginable strangers, old chapters ending, and off-book surprises with new stories beginning. We do want to put our foot in the door a bit by sharing our understanding that these very special moments are missed out on if clarity is missing. The divinity we seek Is within all of us and that masterful experience of You-dom, i.e., “your self as the kingdom of Heaven,” will prevail when given some specific attention-oriented nourishment towards awareness. To sort and sift out unnecessary thoughts? Our suggestion? Meditate. Our tip? Flex the muscle of attention that is being given to the external, gimmicky light show and bring it back inward into the thoughts and feelings.
Take advantage of these holiday moments for yourself AND? any moment in general, by leveraging any feelings/emotions (energy in motion) of “winter-blues” loneliness and despair into an energetic form of observational, non-judgmental or excuses exposé to command presence and of being powerful witness to oneself. It’s difficult to enjoy one’s own life while comparing it to others so knock that habit down too by creating a new habit like fire-breathing, or square-breathing—breathing deeper. Think about it! when was the last time you gave yourself a good internal listening? Call it a bath—or, a deep cleanse! If you’re a chemist, consider it like a good sediment cleansing of an internally visualized Erlenmeyer Flask. When was the last time you could claim hearing and seeing your own internal mind-works piloting and pivoting around? digesting conversations, creating situations and working through challenging understandings of life that no one else will ever get to observe or experience? Super-fun, happy times! Your life deserves YOU to be fully in it.
I love you all so dearly and thank you for reading this article, but I want to know the important answer to: do you love you dearly? I am not asking for much. Some might consider it to be a generous donation, of course I get it. But your gift is what will make the difference for me AND the world this holiday season. Here’s all I ask you to consider: by giving back to yourself through meditation you will automatically be giving back to not just yourself, but everyone else during these times. I mean, have you ever given thought to the struggles and sufferings that others are experiencing in their lives only by life alone? Life takes something as closely resembling of the term, “work.” Where “work” is defined by focus. energy/effort towards an intended outcome, and time. Here’s the equation with YOU in it now added into a meditation: focus inward on your mind. Begin relaxing effort and directing energies into reaching the intended outcome of thoughtlessness. Time: spend any time you wish, but recommended over twenty (20m) minutes of inward, non-judgmental observation. Come back to tracking the breath as often as recollected.
The seasons are changing! Nobody pulled the cord for that, but get that time is ticking! The mountains ARE moving one breathtaking, breakthrough stone at a time! And to be present to the gift that is your existence? The opportunities of uplifting possibilities a person may have never considered? That comes along with getting through all the “sediments and impurities” that have built up inside. And in my opinion: causing us to dismiss our “human.” It is okay that certain elements are present. It is practiced meditation that will purify thoughts if that is what has been observed. Nobody is perfect. REMEMBER not to judge while you’re about your internal work. You will make it all the more complicated. At any rate? Who am I? —let your star shine radiantly this holiday season and give your vibrational frequency the boost it deserves by giving YOU the gift of the century: your beautiful, fearless and allowing self!:)
Cheers and love,
